Dare to Try – Dare to Dream

Better choose the safe option! What if it doesn’t work out? I probably can’t do that anyway. Sounds almost like a famous Pippi quote. The heart behind Pippi was a wise woman with life experience. Who hasn’t, at some point in life, drawn on Pippi’s courage, Emil’s laughter and straightforward nature? Or the sense of togetherness you felt in The Children of Noisy Village.

After several summer holidays on wheels, when tears welled up as we turned the nose homeward towards habits, routines, and everyday life, it was time to look inward. That’s when the rumbling began – with dreams of inspiring others and bringing more freedom into life. The butterflies in my stomach were fluttering. But with little money in the “become self-employed” investment account and many nights when thoughts ran free, one day simply followed the next.
Over time, though, came more courage, a positive mindset, as well as a full heart and a belly full of desire. The unspoken Jante Law was defied, and the business registration was ordered.
The full-time job has not been resigned from, the finances remain unchanged – everything is the same as before. Being born before 1970 also means that experience is well embedded and common sense is well-established (for the most part). The work gloves are on, the motivation is high, and I’m ready to try out new pastures.
In the middle of the work, memories are brought back, and there’s a familiar echo when you hear your own voice telling young people to follow their gut feeling and go after their dreams. Words you hadn’t fully digested yourself!
Dreams are important – especially when you’re young and still have your whole life ahead of you. And yes – everyone should go after their dreams, with both feet on the ground and common sense in their head. There’s always the possibility to regret and change course. But at least you will have tried.
The dream must be followed, and it must be attempted – slowly and steadily. As long as the gut feeling is there, along with the courage and belief in it, you’re on the right path. Step by step!
The journey is something to look forward to – you’ll get nowhere if you don’t try. Do you have dreams you haven’t yet lived out, and can you think of the first ten excuses for why you shouldn’t do it?
